First natural gas information session to be held in Coalisland

SGN Natural Gas will host its first information session in Coalisland amid increasing demands for conversions to the most environmentally friendly of the commonly-used heating fuels.
The session will take place on Thursday 21st April 2022 at Coalisland Library from 4pm-7pm, providing local residents with the opportunity to learn more about natural gas and the benefits of converting.
Vincent Heffron, our local Domestic Sales Representative will be on-site to explain the benefits of switching, which include instant hot water, a reduction in carbon emissions when compared to an older inefficient oil boiler and an improvement in energy efficiency in the home.
Another key factor in natural gas conversions is the accompanying space it provides as no bulky oil tank or burner is required. Many customers have been able to transform their gardens with the additional space, so it’s the perfect time of the year to consider a conversion.
Mark Davidson, Head of Engineering at SGN Natural Gas, has encouraged residents, business representatives and other stakeholders to come along and find out more about ongoing project development work in their local area.
He said: “This is an exciting period for SGN Natural Gas. We are committed to positive engagement with the local communities we serve and look forward to meeting as many people as possible at these types of events.
Towards the end of 2021, Coalisland man Seamus Rafferty became the first resident in the Co. Tyrone village to convert to the SGN Natural Gas network, while also becoming the 1000th domestic connection that year. Read the full story here.
The SGN Natural Gas infrastructure will ultimately play a key role in decarbonising Northern Ireland, particularly with recent biomethane developments for the network as well as the publication of the Energy Strategy which recommends consumers switch from oil to natural gas.
