A timely new boiler competition prize
Posted: 22 Sep, 2020
Strabane pensioner Angela Carlin has won her first competition prize – and it’s all thanks to SGN Natural Gas.
Angela was the lucky winner of a recent competition on the SGN Natural Gas Facebook page to win a top of the range Worcester Bosch boiler and the timing simply could not have been better.
Angela and her husband Vincent are having their home converted to natural gas and the combi boiler’s compact dimensions are ideally suited for the one-bedroom bungalow in Lisnafin Park.
“I never won anything in a competition in my life, that was a real surprise,” said Angela, who was delighted when her name was announced as the winner of the competition which was open to householders in the SGN Natural Gas network area.
“My daughter was in hospital when I rang to tell her and she was so excited she forgot about her pain,” she added.
It came as a welcomed surprise for the couple in their 70s who have suffered some health issues in recent months. They are now looking forward to enhancing the quality of their home heating system by switching from oil and solid fuel to natural gas.
Angela, who spent many years living in England where she was familiar with all the benefits of using natural gas, said she was delighted it is now also available at her new home in Strabane.
“I had natural gas heating when I lived in England and was so happy that I could get it here now as well, as you don’t have to worry about making fires,” she explained.
Angela suffered a fall while the couple were on holiday in Spain last Christmas and had to have a partial hip replacement. Vincent also suffers from a lung condition which makes him prone to chest infections so having a cleaner fuel supply with less carbon emissions is really important. As they were unable to plan any holidays abroad for the foreseeable future due to ongoing travel restrictions, the couple are instead investing in getting their natural gas conversion completed.
Chris McMullan, SGN Natural Gas Domestic Sales Representative for Strabane and Omagh, congratulated Angela on her prize and extended his best wishes to the couple with their natural gas installation.
John Savage, Technical Area Sales Manager for Worcester Bosch who was also in attendance for the presentation, said: “We were delighted to work in partnership with SGN Natural Gas to supply the competition prize. Worcester Bosch is always a popular choice for homeowners and our boilers include 5 star ratings for brand reliability, engineer recommendation, efficiency rating and customer score awarded with the Which? Best Buy award."
“This Worcester Bosch Greenstar boiler has innovative features, an ability to provide comfortable heating and instantaneous hot-water which, combined with its compact dimensions, will enhance the quality of the customer’s home heating system when installed.”
